Join us at Hadley’s Hotel, upstairs in the Cartwright Room at 7:30 for two presentations followed by supper. All welcome but registration required. This meeting of members of the two Societies has been a very popular feature of Hobart One Frame exhibtions for some time. Visitors welcome, free admission. Register here.
Program
1. Treasures from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery presented by TMAG’s Senior Curator of Cultural Heritage, Isobel Andrewartha. This is a unique opportunity to view some important items from the TMAG Postal collection. You will see some rare covers, dies, plates and other Tasmanian colonial postal items never before shown in public. Not to be missed. Some items will also be on display at the Exhibition, frame No 5.
2. Van Diemen’s Land to 1853, presented by Brian Peace, FRPSL, well known philatelic author, postal historian and researcher. Brian will discuss items from his comprehensive collection of VDL pre-adhesive covers. Brian has a wealth of knowedge of Australian colonial mail especially the early period and will show many highly -researched pre-adhesive covers.
Friday 31 Oct, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Walk – historic Tattersall sites – the “Alias Address” Scheme

Here in Hobart, we are fortunate to be the home of Tattersall during an early and fascinating part of its history, namely the alias address scheme.
This walk visits some of these alias addresses still extant in the Hobart CBD, followed by dinner at a historic pub.
This is an uncommon chance to engage in a bit of feet on the ground physicality within our usually sedentary interest in postal history.
The walk is quite leisurely and should take 45-50 minutes. It is within the relatively small city CBD
Meet at 6:00 pm at Hadley’s Hotel and perhaps join us from 5:00 for an informal drink and nibbles at the hotel.
